Disabling or Revoking a Digital Key

There may be times when a decision has been made to not allow a guest of the hotel to enter his or her room.  For example, the guest is drunk, disorderly, combative or has used a fraudulent credit card.  In any case, the steps below will show you how to disable or revoke a digital key.

Navigate to GEMS via a web browser – https://dashboard.keyprprod.com – and then login.   Afterwards, select the Rooms section on the left side of the screen.

On the right side of the screen, locate the room number for the room you want the digital key to be disabled or revoked.  In this example, we will use rooms 1102 and 1104.

If the key icon in front of the room number is black, then the digital key for that room has not yet been activated.   The following screenshot shows the digital key for room 1102 has not yet been activated.

If the key icon in front of the room number is green, then the digital key for that room has been activated.   As depicted in the next screenshot, the digital key for Room 1104 has been activated.

Note:  Clicking on a black digital key for a room that doesn’t contain a registered guest will not do anything and will not display anything.

However, when clicking on a black digital key for a room containing a registered guest, there will be an option to “Disable key activation”.

Selecting “Disable key activation” will prevent the guest from generating a digital key via the mobile app.

Clicking on a green digital key will display two options:

  • Revoke Key
  • Disable key activation

Selecting “Revoke Key” disables the currently active digital key.

In summary, “Disable key activation” prevents a guest from activating a digital key via the mobile app and “Revoke Key” will cause an active digital key to no longer work.
